Joining the Board of Trustees are Kathleen F. Kiely ’77, elected for At-Large Alumni Trustee; Kathryn Roth-Douquet *91, for Graduate Alumni Trustee; and Marisa J. Demeo ’88, for Region II Alumni Trustee. Morgan Smith ’21 was elected to serve as Young Alumni Trustee (YAT). Newly elected alumni trustees will begin their service on July 1, 2021, and serve a four-year term through June 30, 2025.

Kathy Kiely ’77 is the Lee Hills Chair in Free-Press Studies at the Missouri School of Journalism, where she brings the experience from her lifetime in journalism to the classroom. Prior to this position she was one of the early women chiefs of a newspaper bureau in Washington, D.C., and has held management roles in a number of national newspapers throughout her career. Kiely has participated in Reunions as a panelist and was a speaker at the first “She Roars” conference. She has also taught at Princeton as a Ferris Professor and served for more than a decade as a memeber of the Daily Princetonian board of trustees.

Kathryn Roth-Douquet *91 is the founder and CEO of Blue Star Families, the nation’s largest national nonprofit for military families reaching over one million military and veteran families each year. Prior to this position, she held roles in the Nathan Cummings Foundation, joined the Clinton campaign, and in the Clinton White House was the first woman to serve as Lead Presidential Advance. After another stint in foundation work, Roth-Douquet, who is also a lawyer and author of two books, returned to public service as Acting Principal Assistant Deputy Under Secretary of Defense. For the University, she has done Alumni Schools Committee interviewing around the world, spoken at a “She Roars” conference and lectured at SPIA in 2020.

Marisa Demeo ’88 was serving as a Magistrate Judge when President Barack Obama nominated her and, in 2010, the U.S. Senate confirmed her to serve as Associate Judge for the D.C. Superior Court. She is the co-chair of the D.C. Court’s Strategic Planning Leadership Council, previously serving as chair of the Judicial Education Committee. Demeo also has served as chairperson of the Hispanic Bar Association of the District of Columbia Judicial Council, an organization she co-founded that focuses on broadening opportunities at the court for Latino/a/x law students. She has participated in both the “Every Voice” and “Adelante Tigres” alumni conferences at Princeton.

Morgan Smith ’21 has held several roles at the University, ranging from a student worker with the Office of the Dean of Undergraduate Students, a member of Black Arts Company: Dance, a cohort leader for the Vote100 effort and president of Whig-Clio. A concentrator in the Princeton School of Public and International Affairs (SPIA), Smith’s other campus activities include being a member of the Campus Life Leadership Council, the Princeton Association of Black Women and the SPIA Student Advisory Committee. In the summers, she served as an ombudsman/legal intern for Children’s National Hospital in Washington D.C. and as a judicial intern for Chief Magistrate Judge Cheryl Pollak ’75. Post-Princeton, she will be a Project 55 Fellow with Chicago Volunteer Services as a child representative coordinator.
