On Friday, February 24, at the traditional Annual Giving dinner prior to Alumni Day, more than 145 Annual Giving volunteers gathered at the mid-point of the 2016-17 campaign.
During the evening, Annual Giving Chair Louise S. Sams ’79 presented several distinguished achievement awards to the leaders of last year's Annual Giving campaign.
The Harold H. Helm Award, recognizing “exemplary and sustained service to Annual Giving,” was presented to J. Andrew Cowherd ’74 of Morristown, New Jersey.
The Class of 1926 Trophy, awarded to the class that raises the largest sum of money in each year’s campaign, went to the Class of 1991. For their 25th Reunion, class members raised the impressive sum of $7,279,091. They were led by Class Agent Marilyn White Lawrence and Special Gifts Chair Cole Bader.
The Class of 1960 Award for highest participation among the youngest 10 classes was presented to the Class of 2010 for reaching 73.5 percent participation. The class was led by Class Agents Julia M. Jacobson and Sarah C. Schiff.
The Class of 1931 Ricardo A. Mestres Memorial Award recognizes participation in two additional groups of classes. For the highest participation among classes 11 to 50 years out, the award was presented to the Class of 1966 with 76.2 percent participation in celebration of their 50th Reunion. The class was led by Class Agent Robert E. Nahas. The Class of 1963 earned the Mestres Award for achieving the highest percentage of participation in Annual Giving among classes 51 or more years post-graduation with 78.6 percent. The class was led by Class Agent Robert Eisenstadt.
The Class of 1939 Award recognizes the non-major reunion class that raises the highest dollar amount. The award for 2015-16 went to the Class of 1958, which raised $812,886. The class was led by Class Agents Llewellyn G. Ross and Irwin W. Silverberg.
